Soapstone is a natural stone
It comes mostly in greenish or medium grey color. When you apply special sealer or mineral oil stone gets significantly darker. Its name comes from the feeling when touching it, which is the smooth feel similar to touching the soap. Slabs usually contains quartz which is part of the stone and create beautiful patterns. This stone is little bit softer compare to granite or quartz materials, but proven to be very durable. Some of the sinks and stoves made of soapstone more than 200 years ago are still functional today. When sealed properly it doesn’t absorb water and doesn’t stain.

Maintnance:
It is very easy, just use a soap and water and you are going to be able to clean your Soapstone countertops just fine. You can check if your tops are still sealed properly by applying liquid on the surface. If the water doesn’t penetrate inside and countertops doesn’t change the color means that sealer is still effective. Otherwise you can reapply the sealer recommended by your fabricator.
